  • Inspiration

    My memory of Kingston’s Tivoli Gardens High School is the smell of the wood shop. I accompanied my father a few times during this tenor as a teacher. It was special place for him during the late 1970s and early 1980s, and I believe also where he formed some of his fondest memories. He landed in Tivoli after his service in the German army and built trust with community, his students, and also Lester Lloyd Coke aka Jim Brown. My father, “Mr. Kropp” or “Knotty Kropp”, as he was nicknamed, became a legend. I remember Tivoli Gardens by the smell of the wood shop, but mostly through my father’s stories.
