Tea tree oil is produced through steam distillation. The leaves of the tea tree, Melaleuca alternifolia, are harvested and then subjected to high-pressure steam. This process releases the oil from the leaves, which is then captured and cooled, separating it from the water. Its potent antimicrobial and antiseptic properties make it effective in combating acne-causing bacteria and reducing inflammation. The oil's ability to regulate sebum production helps balance oily skin and prevent breakouts. Additionally, tea tree oil can soothe irritated skin and accelerate wound healing.
