Indigo leaf powder is produced from the leaves of the Indigofera tinctoria plant, a tropical legume. The process begins with harvesting the indigo leaves at their peak maturity. These leaves are then fermented in large vats to initiate a chemical reaction that converts the colorless indican compound into a blue pigment called indigo. Once the fermentation process is complete, the indigo precipitate is separated from the liquid and dried. The dried indigo cake is then ground into a fine powder, resulting in indigo leaf powder. Indigo leaf powder, beyond its colorant properties, offers potential skincare benefits. Rich in antioxidants, it helps protect the skin from environmental damage and premature aging. Some studies suggest that indigo may have anti-inflammatory properties, potentially soothing irritated skin and reducing redness. Additionally, it is believed to help balance skin tone and promote a more even complexion.
