Liquids

Distilled Water
Purified liquid Distilled Water used in FEEL NO EVIL soap formulation.

Distillation involves the transformation of aqueous vapor derived from the boiling of water, subsequently cooled and reverted to its liquid form. In contrast to natural spring and tap water, which may harbor minerals, bacteria, pesticides, and various contaminants, the distillation process serves as a purifying mechanism, eliminating all such impurities. Furthermore, it achieves the removal of over 99.9% of the minerals dissolved within the water matrix. Following the distillation procedure, the resultant water attains a neutral pH level of 7.0.

Coconut Oil
Cold pressed Coconut Oil used in FEEL NO EVIL soap formulation.

Coconut oil is derived using a rigrous refining process. The crude oil is first degummed with phosphoric acid, then bleached with activated carbon, filtered, and then steam deodorized. It is one of our most preferred oils in our soap making, as it highly soluble in both hard and salt water, resulting in a bubbly lather. It also retains moisture, thus creating a harder and longer lasting bar of soap.

Shea Butter
Raw, unrefined Shea Butter used in FEEL NO EVIL soap formulation.

Producing this creamy butter is an extensive process: The nuts are washed and dried after being extracted from the fruit; crushed and toasted to form a paste; mixed and washed with water to purify; heated to separate the fat from the oil; the fat is skimmed, the oils settles and hardens; the hardened oil is our Shea Butter. We prize it for its moisturizing and emollient properties due to its abundance of fatty acids which creates soap bars with a creamy, conditioning lather.

Botanicals

Bergamot Fruit Peel Oil
Liquid botanical extract of Bergamot Fruit Peel Oil used in FEEL NO EVIL soap formulation.

Bergaptene-free bergamot fruit peel oil is produced through a multi-step process. Initially, the oil is extracted from the bergamot fruit peel using cold pressing, a traditional method that captures the oil's natural fragrance. However, this process also retains bergaptene, a compound that can cause photosensitivity. To create the bergaptene-free version, the oil undergoes further refinement using an alkaline solution where the bergaptene molecule is altered or removed. This oil offers a range of potential skin benefits. Its anti-inflammatory properties can soothe irritated skin and reduce redness, while its antiseptic qualities help combat bacteria. This oil also acts as an astringent, helping to tighten pores and balance oil production. Additionally, it may contribute to a more even skin tone and potentially minimize the appearance of scars.

Jasmine Flower Oil
Close-up of raw Indigo Leaf Powder used in FEEL NO EVIL soap formulation.

Jasmine flower oil is produced through a process called solvent extraction. Due to the delicate nature of jasmine flowers, steam distillation is not effective in capturing their full fragrance. In solvent extraction, the jasmine flowers are immersed in a solvent, such as hexane, which absorbs the oil. This mixture is then filtered to remove the plant matter, and the solvent is carefully evaporated, leaving behind a thick, waxy substance known as jasmine concrete. To obtain the pure oil, the jasmine concrete is further processed through alcohol extraction, resulting in jasmine absolute, a highly concentrated and precious oil. Its potent antioxidant properties help combat free radical damage, a primary cause of premature aging and wrinkles. The oil's regenerative qualities may help improve skin elasticity and reduce the appearance of fine lines. Additionally, jasmine flower oil is believed to have a balancing effect on the skin, helping to regulate sebum production and soothe both dry and oily skin conditions. Its calming and uplifting fragrance can also contribute to a sense of well-being, potentially reducing stress-related skin issues.

Additionally, vetiver oil is believed to promote skin regeneration and improve elasticity, contributing to a firmer and smoother complexion.

GHS Labels:

Ylang Ylang Flower Oil
Liquid botanical extract of Ylang Ylang Flower Oil used in FEEL NO EVIL soap formulation.

Ylang-ylang flower oil is produced through steam distillation. The process involves harvesting the ylang-ylang flowers, which are then subjected to high-pressure steam. This steam carries the volatile oil components of the ylang-ylang flowers, separating them from the plant matter. This aromatic steam is then cooled, causing the oil to condense and separate from the water. Its balancing properties help regulate sebum production, making it suitable for both oily and dry skin types. Known for its calming and soothing effects, it can help reduce inflammation and redness associated with skin conditions like eczema and acne. Rich in antioxidants, ylang-ylang oil helps combat free radical damage, contributing to a more youthful complexion. Additionally, its antimicrobial properties can help combat acne-causing bacteria and prevent breakouts. The oil's ability to promote relaxation can indirectly benefit the skin by reducing stress-related skin issues.
